One crucial factor to remember when planting new seeds is the type of soil you use. Quality soil plays a significant role in ensuring your seedlings grow quickly and healthily. We use a fertilizer/soil mix, but you can easily make your own by combining kitchen compost with the soil you have on hand.
It's essential that the compost is fully decomposed. Using non-decomposed compost can actually harm your seeds by 'burning' them! You'll know your compost is ready when it has a fine, smooth texture and no longer feels crunchy between your fingers.
